Staff profiles & badges

Every staff member, owner, admin, or agent, has their own Profile page in the dashboard, plus an optional badge that shows next to their name wherever they reply on the portal.

Open the account menu (your avatar, top right of the dashboard) to see your name, role, and email at a glance, and choose Profile from there. Staff also see their role next to their name in the portal’s account menu (top right of any portal page). From the Profile page you can set:

  • Display name: shown on your dashboard and next to your replies on the portal.
  • Avatar: upload a PNG, JPEG, or WEBP image, up to 2 MB. With no avatar, your initials show instead.
  • Badge: optional, picked from the list your forum’s owner and admins maintain (see below). When you’re invited, you start with a default badge matching your role, Agent for agents and Moderator for owners and admins, and you can change it here any time.

This page is yours alone: every staff role can reach it and edit their own name, avatar, and badge, whatever they’re otherwise allowed to do elsewhere in the dashboard.

The Badges tab in Settings holds the vocabulary your team picks personal badges from, visible to the forum owner and admins. Two badges are built in: Moderator and Agent, and you’re free to add your own custom badges alongside them (up to 20 entries in total).

Moderator and Agent are fixed: they can’t be edited or removed, they’re the built-in defaults every new teammate is assigned from. Custom badges are yours to define: use the Add badge button to create one, and Edit or Remove next to any custom badge to rename or drop it.

There’s no Save button here: every action applies immediately. Adding or renaming a badge takes effect the moment you submit, and removing one (after a confirmation) clears it from anyone currently wearing it; they simply go back to no badge, nothing else about their account changes.

When a staff member replies to a question, the portal shows either:

  • Their personal badge, if they’ve picked one on their Profile page, or
  • A generic “{forum name} Team” label, if they haven’t.

Both replace what a customer would otherwise see next to a regular member’s name, marking the reply as coming from your team either way.

  • Your own profile: the account menu → Profile (/w/{your-forum}/profile).
  • The badge vocabulary: Settings > Badges (/w/{your-forum}/settings), owner and admin only.
